Computing

At Barnby Road Academy our aim is to create children who are "e-confident" in a school where ICT is integrated effectively in the planning, teaching, learning and assessment of all areas of the curriculum. We create pupils who are independent, confident and responsible users of ICT in order to prepare them for life in an increasingly ICT rich world.

Aims:

  • To teach ICT using the guidelines set out in the new Nottinghamshire ICT framework or to teach using the objectives taken from the skills ladder.
  • To enable children to have regular access to computers and other ICT equipment in order to develop their ICT capability.
  • To enable children to develop their understanding and knowledge of control technology by using a variety of devices such as digital cameras, sound recording equipment, scanners, printers, etc.
  • To ensure children are given the opportunity to use a variety of software, interesting and appropriate to their age.
  • To enable children to develop skills in ICT working individually, in pairs or in small groups.
  • To enable children to be able to save and retrieve their work using a variety of data storage devices.
  • To enable children to be able to use the internet to select and use information to support other curriculum areas.
  • To enable children to communicate electronically via email.
  • To embed ICT into all other areas of the curriculum in all areas of the school.
  • To maintain the level of resources we have and to extend these whenever possible to keep up with new innovations.
