Welcome to Foundation 2!
Hello and welcome to Foundation 2!
There are three classes in Foundation 2 (F2), the Parrots, Penguins and Owls, and our teachers are Mrs Marfleet, Miss Tyler and Mrs Goff.
In F2 we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and work towards our Early Learning Goals. We work hard in an environment that is carefully planned, exciting and stimulating. Our environment is designed to support the seven areas of learning and is clearly labelled to help us explore the world around us and become independent learners.
We will be learning about lots of exciting things this year. Please enjoy exploring our class page and keep checking back to keep up to date with all of the exciting things we will be doing.
This year F2 took inspiration from Alien's Love Underpants for World Book Day and the children had a whole day of fun alien activities and even a pants parade! They looked fantastic and had lots of great moves to share!
As part of our Hot and Cold topic, we had a visitor take us on an imaginary journey around the world. We hopped on a plane and explored lots of different countries like Egypt, Poland, America and the Artic! Whilst in the different countries we got to play lots of exciting games which made us laugh very much!
As part of our Celebrations Topic we have been learning about Christmas and the Christmas story. We went on a trip to Perlethorpe and walked to from 'Nazareth' to 'Bethlehem' to re-enact the journey Mary and Joseph had to make. The children had a great time, despite the cold weather! We all enjoyed the coach rides and eating our special trip lunches together. The children were so tired and there were lots of sleepy children on the coach home!
This week we have started our daily 'Funky Fingers' sessions. For five minutes a day the children undertake a fine motor activity to develop the muscles in their fingers which, in turn, helps improve their pencil grip. The children have really enjoyed these activities!
All the children in F2 are happy settling into ‘big school’ life. They have all been very busy exploring all the exciting activities in F2 and making lots of new friends! We are looking forward to watching them learn and progress this year!
