Sycamore- Mr Barbuti
As we approach the end of a fabulous 1st term in year 4, it is a great time to think about some of the things we have learnt and achieved so far...
All the children have settled fabulously into the 'big guys corridor'. We have learnt about habitats, teeth and the human digestive system in science, visiting Sherwood Forest for our amazing residential. We have conducted experiments to discover which drinks are most damaging to our teeth (this threw up some surprising results) and have seen a practical demonstration of the human digestive system from eating to...!
The children are now all experts on The Sieges of Newark following our three sessions with the excellent experts from The National Civil War Centre. We have handled artefacts, learnt how to be musketeers and pikemen, discovered what happened to real Newark people during the Siege and also learnt about spying - 1642 style!
Swimming has progressed massively, with the majority of children now in the large pool and everyone's confidence and enjoyment levels at an all-time high (including the teachers!)
Reading at home is also going very well thanks to the excellent support by parents, grandparents, older brothers and sisters.
Thank you to all parents, grandparents and carers for your ongoing support this term. Many of the things we do are impossible without you. We are looking forward to another excellent term after Christmas, when we will be quickly transported back to ancient Egypt!
