‘Where everyone is able to achieve their best’

We want everyone to 'achieve your best' this year.

With that in mind, here are our top-tips to ensure success in Year 6:

  • Get reading!

We expect every child to be reading at home most nights for at least 15 minutes. Journals must be signed

at least three times every week by one of your adults.

  • Homework for English and Maths will be given every Thursday and is due back the following Wednesday. If you bring it back by Monday morning, you will get a 'stamp' for your chart.

If you are away when the homework is given out, it is your responsibility to ask for it as soon as you

return to school. Your teacher will be happy to go through it with you.

Do not leave your homework until the night before it is due in!

  • Times tables are vital to everything we do in maths. Login to Times Table Rock Stars at least 3 times

every week for 15 minutes. You could try and do better than your friends! There is a link to the website

  • Make the most of all the opportunities available for you in Year 6. Sport, music, art, responsibilities,

mentoring. The best thing you can do is to try to get the most out of your final year at Barnby.

  • Every year in September, or early October, we will hold a 'Year 6 Parents' Information Meeting'.

As soon as the date is published, put it on your calendar and come along to find out all you need to know

for the year ahead and to ask any questions.
