Reading:

Throughout this week the children will be reading the purple book ‘Stop’ and completing some tasks like we do in school. These will be spread out and we will revisit different parts of the book on different days. Log in to Oxford Owl with your child’s class log in, then click on ‘RWI e-book library’. You can then look for the purple book ‘Stop’.

Today’s tasks with the book are:

• Practise the speedy green words on page 15 again; can they increase their speed of reading the words?
• Practise the red words on page 7 again; can they increase their speed of reading the words?
• Child to read the book again (pages 8-13). Each day they read it they should start to become more confident and will be able to read some words more quickly.
• On page 15 there are some questions to read and answer. Your child should read the questions themselves and choose the correct answer using their knowledge of the book throughout the week.

Writing:

Watch the video with the Year 1 teachers to practise writing a sentence about the book. Your child will need paper and a pencil. Ideally this would be lined paper/exercise books, or paper that you have drawn some lines on so that children can practise their handwriting and where letters sit on the line.
