  • Super SATs week

    Fri 15 May 2015 S Chamberlain
I just wanted to say a massive well done to the year 6 children for their attitude and behaviour throughout the week. They have approached the tests in a very calm manner and consistently given 'their best'. We were very impressed with you all. The bacon and sausage butties were also great too! A big thank you to Hardys farm shop.

  • Footballers finish successful season

Fri 08 May 2015 Mr Barbuti

The football season ended for the senior boys this week. The A team had progressed to the quarter finals of both the Newark Cup and the Nottinghamshire Cup.

On Thursday we travelled to Jesse Gray in West Bridgford. It was a fast-paced, exciting and skillful match. We more than held our own and with a bit more luck could have easily come away victorious. However Jesse Gray scored late in the first half and then scored twice more in the final two minutes as we pressed for an equaliser. The boys played excellently and were a credit to the school in defeat. Good luck to Jesse Gray in the semi final.

On Friday we hosted Coddington who have been a bit of a 'bogey team' for us this year. We went ahead early, Gabriel Jenkins finishing coolly in the bottom corner, but went behind before half time. A tactical switch saw Elias move up front and this quickly paid off when he squared for Dean Billy to score the equaliser and take the game to extra time. What had looked like a managerial masterstroke did not pay further dividends however and Coddington scored two late goals to finish 4-2 winners.

The boys again played excellently and should be extremely proud of a season that has seen them crowned as Autumn Flowserve champions and Nottinghamshire 5-a-side champions.

Both A and B teams are waiting for other schools to finish their league fixtures to see if they have held onto second place in their leagues.

Thank you to all the boys who have played this season and the parents who have been there every step of the way.

  • Here comes the summer!

    Wed 22 Apr 2015 S Chamberlain
Welcome back! Hopefully everyone has had a restful break ready for the very busy summer term. A newsletter will be coming out next week identifying key dates for the term. Make sure the children are firing on all cylinders during this testing half term.
  • Trip to Wembley

    Tue 31 Mar 2015 S. Chamberlain
On Friday night of last week we took 26 children from year 6 who regularly attend our football clubs to Wembley to watch the England international against Lithuania. It was a great evening with the children really enjoying themselves. The staff had a great time also!! Even though it was a very late night this is something we will look to run again into the future.
  • Young musician of the year evening

    Tue 31 Mar 2015 S. Chamberlain
It was a pleasure to attend the young musician finals for the Newark area last week. The children in the orchestra and choir were magnificent and represented the school in a very positive light. We also had five individual finalists who all performed brilliantly. Two of the children (Esme Nicholson & Elizabeth Gibson) were celebrated as winners in their respective categories. Well done to all involved a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
  • Netballers finish league campaign

    Fri 20 Mar 2015 S. Chamberlain
The netball team had the last set of league fixtures last night and managed 3 wins and 1 defeat with 2 walkovers because the other schools did not attend. This has given them a final league record of played 15 won 14 and lost 1. We are waiting to see if this is enough to secure the league title but it depends on the outcome of the other games involving the school that beat us last night. Fingers crossed!!
  • Pupil Council visit to County Hall

    Wed 18 Mar 2015 S Chamberlain
The children involved on the pupil council this year had a wonderful visit to County Hall yesterday to look around the building and meet the current chairman of the councillors. It was a great visit with the children excellently behaved and asking some very good questions about the role of a councillor.
