  • Indoor Champions Again!

Thu 22 Jan 2015 Mr Barbuti

The boys indoor 5-a-side team did themselves proud last night, venturing deep into Nottingham, winning the Reprotec Shield and coming back as Nottinghamshire County Champions.

After an evening of incredibly tense, exciting and end-to-end matches the boys emerged victorious with 3 wins,  1 draw and 1 loss from their 5 matches. Matches were played against champion schools from five other districts of Nottinghamshire.

In winning the trophy, the boys have emulated the Barnby Road teams from 2011 and 2013 who were also proud holders of this title.

The standard of football was of an extremely high quality and the boys can look back on their achievement with a great sense of pride.

  • Hockey News

    Thu 15 Jan 2015 S. Chamberlain
The hockey team played 3 fixtures last night at a very cold Magnus. They played excellently throughout the evening and secured wins against Highfields A 1-0 and Highfields B 3-0 and in the last match after dominating for large periods were unfortunately held to a 0-0 draw by a determined Caunton team. Great job kids keep up the good form for the fixtures next week.

On Friday 9th January 2015 we are being visited by the 'Travelling by Tuba' group. They will conduct a short concert for the whole school before running workshops throughout the day for the Key Stage 2 children. We have had this group in before and they are excellent and it will be a really fun filled day for the children.

It was a super evening for the Christmas fair. Many thanks for all of the support and the great attendance on the evening. This truly is a school that is very well supported by its community. We believe we have raised approximately £1750 from the event which we are delighted with. Great job to all involved.

  • Football team reach County Semis

Mon 01 Dec 2014 Matt Barbuti

Barnby Road represented Newark & Sherwood at the County 7-a-side finals which took place at Sutton Lawn on Saturday morning. Each of the 8 districts of Nottinghamshire was represented by the strongest team from their respective area. The standard of football was very high and the team played outstandingly to win their group, going through with 5 points form 3 games.

The semi-final pitted us against a strong Whitemoor team from the City. We went 2-0 behind early on only for Josh Burkitt to bring us back to within one goal with a left-foot arrow just before half time. In the second half we pushed for the equaliser but could not quite achieve it.

Thank you to the boys who were exceptional, both in the way they played and also their attitude and sportsmanship. Thank you also to the parents and grandparents who gave up their time on a miserable morning!
