Welcome to Barnby Road Academy. We are a diverse, friendly and vibrant school where children are encouraged to be happy, confident and independent learners. Our high expectations help every child recognise their strengths, embrace new challenges and reflect on how they can continue to grow.

We offer a rich and varied curriculum, giving children memorable experiences—from outdoor adventures to exciting trips and a thriving music provision that includes ukulele lessons, four choirs and our forty‑piece orchestra.

Our values-based approach creates a nurturing, positive environment where wellbeing is at the heart of school life. With dedicated staff and spacious indoor and outdoor learning areas, we provide a stimulating setting in which children can flourish.

My son started at Barnby Road as a quiet, shy individual with lots to learn and hurdles to overcome and now as he approaches the end of his time at primary school is leaving a bright, social young man with lots of fun experiences, friends and a heart full of love and appreciation for every member of staff he's encountered in his years as a pupil. I can safely say that every member of staff from the wonderful office team, teaching staff and lunchtime help have truly made a positive impact on him and without each and every staff member at Barnby Road my son wouldn't be leaving the young man he is today. We are so sad to be leaving this chapter and if we could stay forever, we would. To all those that come after us, grasp each and every moment with Barnby Road, you will not regret it. At Barnby Road Academy, we are proud to offer the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) programme, enriching our lunchtimes to provide children with the very best play experiences. OPAL transforms our outdoor spaces into vibrant, stimulating environments where children are encouraged to explore, create, and take the lead in their own play. Through access to a wide range of open-ended resources, pupils develop confidence, resilience, and social skills while staying active and engaged. This approach not only enhances wellbeing and enjoyment but also supports learning back in the classroom, helping our children to thrive both socially and academically.
