Barnby Road Academy

‘Where everyone is able to achieve their best’

KS1 and KS2 - Years 1 - 6

Key Stage 1 and 2 (Years 1-6)

What ‘remote learning’ can I expect if my child is not able to attend school due to COVID-19?

This information is to be used as a general guide. Further details of remote learning will be available when it is required. We aim to implement remote learning from your child’s second day of absence. The general links for home learning on our school website should be used until specific learning is set for your child.

If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the school office for support.

Circumstance

Remote learning

My child (and their siblings if they are also attending Barnby Road) is absent because they are awaiting test results and our household is required to self-isolate. The rest of their school bubble are attending school and being taught as normal.

All information about home learning for individual cases will be sent via email.

  • Maths lessons – Worksheets and PowerPoints following on/mirroring the maths being covered in the classroom at that time will be sent home via email.  Links to online videos to support the work may also be provided. Answers will be provided for self-marking at home.
  • KS2 - English lessons -  Worksheets and PowerPoints following on/mirroring the English being covered in the classroom at that time will be sent home via email.  Links to online videos to support the work may also be provided. The quantity will be dependent on age/stage of your child. Reading should also take place daily.
  • KS1 - RWI sessions/tasks – Links to video lessons of RWI following on/mirroring the sounds being taught in school will be sent home via email. Reading should also take place daily.
  • Topic task(s)-  Worksheets and PowerPoints following on/mirroring the topic lessons being covered in the classroom at that time will be sent home via email.  Links to online videos to support the work may also be provided.  If the lessons being taught in class are not able to be delivered remotely (e.g. if it requires additional resources such as art resources e.g. clay or pastels, or geography resources e.g maps and atlases) then alternative ‘topic’ learning will be set via email using ‘Oak Academy’ lessons.
  • Communication with the class teacher – Purple Mash blogs for each class have been set up. You can use this to communicate with the class teacher and discuss the work being set. Teachers will check this daily.

My child’s whole bubble is not permitted to attend school because they, or another member of their bubble, have tested positive for Covid-19.

OR

We enter another ‘lockdown’ with total school closure.
