At Barnby Road Nursery you have the choice of sending your child in their own clothing or in school uniform. The children can get messy when they are playing and learning. Although protective aprons are used in nursery, we cannot promise to avoid all accidents so we recommend that children do not come in ‘special’ or ‘best’ clothes!

Many parents choose to send their children in Barnby Road uniform as it helps prepare them for school, makes them feel part of the school and avoids messing children’s ‘home’ clothes.  Children can wear grey, charcoal or black trousers/skirts/pinafores with black/blue/grey shoes. In the summer, children can wear blue and white checked dresses or grey/black shorts.  Royal blue or white polo shirts can be worn with a royal blue jumper or cardigan.  Items with the school logo can be ordered from www.wrigleprint.co.uk - go into ‘our products’, then ‘school/education’, click on the Barnby Road Academy picture and enter the login wpbra2019.

Please be aware that we have a strict no jewellery policy at Barnby Road Academy. Small stud earrings and a watch are the only items permitted.

In Nursery we spend a lot of time learning outdoors, even when it is cold and a little drizzly. Your child should be equipped with suitable clothing for the changing weather; a hooded coat, scarf, mittens and hat on cold days and a sun hat and sun cream on hot days (we recommend applying a long lasting sun screen before Nursery).  We may sometimes request that your child bring wellies to Nursery to avoid getting muddy on wet days!

Your child will have their own peg where their coat and a bag of spare clothes, if needed, may be kept throughout the session. The children will be encouraged to find their coat for outdoor play or home time by themselves to aid independence.
