School Tour

Barnby Road Academy caters for children aged between three and eleven years old. The school was opened January 1984 and was formed from the Barnby Road Junior School and the Barnby Road Infants School. We moved to our fantastic new site and new building, designed by teachers and children in October 2007. In September 2010 we became an academy school, responsible for our own resources, site and curriculum.

The school has grown since 1984 where there were 160 children. There are now approximately 450 children plus our 78 place nursery. We have 19 classrooms, a large Foundation unit, a hall, girls changing room, wonderful foyers and workspaces. It's a circular building with a real heart.

The new wing is a Key stage Two wing built in September 2012 and opened in 2013. It was a result of an accommodation bid to the Academy Capital Fund in response to popular/oversubscribed schools requiring more space. It is agreed with the LA and Trustees that Barnby Road will have a phased in First admission of 75 pupils instead of 50.

The new Des Whicher wing offers:

5 slightly bigger classrooms

A small hall

Junior toilet block

Disabled toilet

Special needs / Welfare room

Parents room

Heads office

Finance & business managers office

Music room

New admin office
