Wolfit Festival 18th March – 20th March
We are really proud of all the children who took part in this year’s Wolfit festival of Drama and Verse Speaking. This year we had 18 children from Barnby Road take part and we had lots of certificate winners across the year groups!
All the children practised really hard to learn their two poems and they even performed them to the whole school before the Wolfit festival! The children’s performances were of a very high standard and received lots of praise from the adjudicator.

Barnby Road Academy became the 2016 Nottinghamshire Schools Cricket Association indoor county cricket champions, winning the Mick Yard Trophy after a fine performance in the finals which took place in the indoor school at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground on Wednesday 30th March.
The tournament was a county-wide competition with teams representing three separate districts: Nottingham (including Newark), Worksop & Mansfield and Kirkby in Ashfield. 40 teams took part in total.
To reach the county final Barnby Road had to win their district qualifying round before beating Jesse Gray from West Bridgford 138 – 137 and Forest Fields 125 – 114 in the district final on 23rd March.
In the final itself all three qualifying teams played each other, the winner being the team with the most points overall.
Barnby Road produced two outstanding fielding performances to beat St John’s (representing Worksop & Mansfield) 149 – 124 and Annesley Primary (representing Kirkby in Ashfield) 169 – 138.
It is the first time Barnby have won this event and can now claim to be County Indoor Champions in both football and cricket.
The team was Harry Scott (c), Josh Mee, Alfie Horne, Thomas Carter, Sam Greeley, Dean Robinson, Toby White, Jack Oldfield and Harry White.
