Snow!

We were so excited to see some snow at Barnby Road yesterday that we all put our coats and hats on and went outside to enjoy it! The children had fun trying to catch the flakes and we used our five senses to describe the snow. Fingers crossed for a bit more next time! ❄️

Lions Trip to Magna

Lions class have had a fantastic trip to Magna today, learning about materials and exploring the different elements. During the 'Magic Materials' workshop the children sorted objects based on their materials, took part in some science magic and even made their own slime! After lunch we went to the four discovery zones: fire, water, earth and air. The children loved learning about the elements in their different forms and had lots of fun with the interactive exhibits. Well done Lions class for a super trip!

Lions First Weeks in Autumn 2

Lions have had a busy first two weeks back in Autumn 2 term. We have been learning all about bonfire night in history and did some super bonfire poetry in English. We even went outside and had a bonfire and toasted marshmallows! Lots of children came to the KS1 disco and a member of Lions class even won a prize for being the best dancer! The children have also learnt about remembrance day and, alongside the whole school minute silence, they did some remembrance day Maths too. Well done Lions, it has been a fantastic start to the term!

Lions Final Week of Autumn 1

This week in Lions we have been getting excited for Halloween! We have been writing spooky spells and then created them at our potions table. We have also used the sketching skills we have learnt this term to draw pumpkins, thinking about their textures. We have practiced fine motor skills by cutting out funny faces to stick onto our pumpkins. In History we have been talking about chronological order and have loved exploring old toys and comparing them to our modern toys at home. 

Lions First Term

Lions have had a fantastic first term in Year 1. In Maths we have explored number sentences, in English we have been writing captions and sentences about the stories we have read, and we have explored lots of fine motor skills activities. 

Lions Family Reading Morning

Lions class had a brilliant time exploring the books and resources during our family reading morning. Thank you to all of the parents that were able to attend.

Lions First Week

What a fantastic first week the children have had in Lions class! We have had seen lots of creativity in the make-and-do and the children have loved to show their phonics with some writing during their independent learning time. We have also made class animals for our Lions display and even painted our very own self-portraits. Well done Lions class, we he have had lots of fun!

Lions First Day

Lions have had a super first day and have enjoyed exploring the different areas of the classroom. This morning we had a circle time where we shared our favourite parts of our Summer holidays and we had a fun singing session with Mr Higgins. Well done Lions :)
