The Barnby Road Academy Friends Association is your school's Parent Teacher Association. We meet each half term to organise fundraising and social events. Social events are a great way to meet other Barnby families and any money raised is always put back into the school to benefit your children. The Friends group is open to all Barnby Road Academy parents, carers and grandparents.

Our Events

We try to raise funds in as many ways as possible with the volunteers that we have. Our regular events are:

• Fairs – summer and Christmas
• Pre-loved uniform sales – once each term
• Frozen Friday –  we sell ice creams and lollies in the spring and summer on Fridays after school
• Car boot sales
• Clothing bank in the school car park
• School lottery

Keeping up-to-date

We want to keep parents and carers informed of the events and activities we have planned as much as possible. A newsletter goes home in book bags regularly but we also have a Facebook group (Search for Barnby Road Academy Friends) which is kept up to date on a regular basis. A Friends' noticeboard is located at the front of school, near the small hall, and is updated regularly.

How to get involved

We are always looking for new enthusiastic committee members! Anyone who has children in the school and would be interested in having a say on the things we do, please come along and join us. We usually meet every other month at 6.30pm in the school staffroom. This is very informal, and there is free tea and coffee. There is lots of info to share and people's opinions really do matter, so we would love to see you. The Friends Association have raised £16,441.99 since September 2018 which is a phenomenal amount but this wouldn't be possible without helpers so we really do need you!

We recognise that lives are hectic, so not everyone can help out; please don’t worry if you can’t. There are lots of other ways you can help including supporting our events; selling raffle tickets for our summer and Christmas fairs; donating uniform that no longer fits your children; bringing clothes you no longer need to our clothing bank in the carpark or going through www.easyfundraising.com for your online purchases.

Occasionally, we have parents or carers that work for big companies that have match-funding schemes. If your employer has a scheme, please get in touch as this is a great way for us to boost our funds.
