Year 5 Home Learning

Whilst school is closed, please use the following to continue your child’s learning at home. If you have any queries/problems please initially contact your child's class teacher -

Alternatively, you can contact Mr Barbuti, Upper KS2 Manager:

1. Reading

Read every day! What better time is there than now, with time on your hands, to read or share a new book!  Encourage your child to do this with their own reading book and / or books in the house.  And don’t judge a book by its cover!  It may be dusty and a little tattered, tucked away on the bookshelf, but the story inside could be the best you’ve ever read!  Also, there are plenty of free-to-read books on Amazon ‘Kindle’.  The app is available on Android and Apple. In addition, we will be placing five, weekly, English activities for your children to be getting on with.  These will be lodged on Purple Mash.

2. Maths using ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ website

Using your child’s individual log on, you can access Times Table practice for your child. Your child’s class teacher will be setting goals for the children to complete. They can also take part in a ‘Battle of the Bands’ competing against others in their year group and ‘Top of the Rocks’ competing against Coddington Primary School. See specific Times Table Rockstars guidance for more information.

3. A range of curriculum tasks on Purple Mash

Using your child’s individual log on, you can access a range of different activities covering different subject areas. Class teachers will be setting ‘2Dos’ for your child to complete each week. Please aim for your child to complete a Maths, English and Topic ‘2Do’ each day. See specific Purple Mash guidance for more information.

4. Complete ‘Core Movements’ every day

Use the ‘Core Movements’ information and fitness log in your home learning pack for children to complete some exercise each day. Can the children increase their repetitions over time? You can print another copy below.
