Attendance at Barnby Road
At Barnby Road Academy we believe that good attendance and punctuality are crucial. Parents and carers have a legal duty to ensure that their child receives a full time education and therefore must ensure that their child attends school regularly and on time.
Evidence shows that children who attend school regularly and on time achieve their full educational potential, irregular attendance may have a serious impact on a child’s academic progress.
We monitor the attendance of all children carefully and have a duty to account for their whereabouts each day. If you have not contacted school by 10am and we are unable to contact you we may complete a home visit to check that your child is safe and well.
If attendance drops below 90% we will make you aware of this by letter on a half termly basis. We are always happy to discuss any difficulties you or your child may be having which is affecting attendance. A meeting can be arranged with our Safeguarding & Welfare Manager or school nurse to discuss any concerns or difficulties, we have a range of support and intervention available if required.
