‘Where everyone is able to achieve their best’

Autumn Term

This term our first topic is "Habitats".

We will be learning about the different habitats around school, and what might live there. Later on we focus on woodland habitats in readiness for our visit to Sherwood Forest. We also include some science work on food chains.

Our second topic is called "Under Siege".

This will focus on the part that the town of Newark played in the Civil War, and how the people of Newark survived the dramatic sieges during the war. We have close links with the National Civil War Centre during this topic: we hope they will be able to visit our school bringing real artefacts, and we visit the centre and tour the town and castle to find out more.

Swimming and P.E

For this Autumn term, our P.E lessons will be lead by a qualified rugby coach! We will be learning the rules and skills of tag rugby. All classes will have their P.E on a Thursday - children are to come to school in their school P.E kit.

After Christmas, each class will return to their set P.E. day:

Sycamore - Monday

Ash - Monday

Maple - Tuesday

Each class will be going swimming every Friday. To make sure that we have as much time in the pool as possible, children should come to school in their uniform but are encouraged to wear their swimming clothes underneath.

A great way to end our first term! Well done Maple Class and Merry Christmas!

Maple class did a smelly science experiment today to investigate how our digestive systems work!

Maple Class have been doing some brilliant topic work this week! They have used an atlas to locate the site of major Civil War battles, and researched information about different types of soldiers.

A big thank you from Maple class for coming to visit our habitat projects!

Maple class enjoyed their historic walk around Newark!

Maple Class had a brilliant time at the National Civil War Centre!
