Barnby Road Academy

‘Where everyone is able to achieve their best’

Autumn Term

This term our first topic is "Habitats".

We will be learnng about the different habitats around school, and what might live there. Later on we focus on woodland in readiness for our Residential visit to Sherwood Forest. We also include some science work on food chains. Our topic will finish with our wonderful overnight visit to Sherwood Forest.

Our second topic is called "Under Siege".

This will focus on the part that the town of Newark played in the Civil War, and how the people of Newark survived the dramatic sieges during the war. We have close links with the National Civil War Centre during this topic: they visit our school bringing real artefacts, and we visit the centre and tour the town and castle to find out more.

Maple class enjoyed our visit by the National Civil War Centre.

Maple class had a wet and muddy (but enjoyable) time on our Sherwood Forest residential.
