Barnby Road Academy

‘Where everyone is able to achieve their best’

R.E.

RE at Barnby Road

At Barnby Road we use the agreed Nottinghamshire Religious Education syllabus as the basis for our curriculum. The intent is to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. As a result of this, they will become independent and respectful members of a society who understand and explore big questions about life, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that they can make sense of religion, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about and from religions and worldviews in local, national and global contexts, to discover, explore and consider different answers to these questions.

At Barnby Road children have the opportunity to bring their religious learning to life through educational visits which allow them to gain a better understanding of and engage in their local and wider communities in a way that inspires pride. They will be equipped with systematic knowledge and understanding of a range of religions and worldviews, enabling them to develop their ideas, values and identities. Our children are encouraged to develop an aptitude for dialogue so that they can participate positively in our society, with its diverse religions and worldviews.

RE at Barnby Road will ensure that pupils make progress through each year group, acquiring and applying key knowledge, so that they at least meet the agreed age expectations in a subject.
