Music is prioritised at Barnby Road Academy. Every child accesses a weekly singing session run by our pianist Peter Higgins. In Key Stage 1 percussion instruments are used within the classroom to begin developing listening, performing and composing skills. Year 3 and 4 children learn the recorder and Years 5 and 6 have weekly ukulele sessions to continue to develop performing and composing skills. There is a whole school singing assembly on a Thursday morning during which children in Years 4-6 can choose to attend our large Senior Choir. We are very proud of our school orchestra of 30+ children that plays for a number of performances throughout the year.
