Someone came into reception and stole the teacher’s cakes! We read the story of Burglar Bill and thought he may have something to do with it. We spent a couple of days looking for clues and evidence. Mr Chamberlain, Miss Woolridge and Mr Webster came down to reception. The children had lots of questions they wanted to ask them as part of the investigation. They all had their fingerprints taken. Mr Webster came under a lot of suspicion, and the children were convinced it was him who had eaten the cakes. Thankfully we had some video evidence to prove Mr Webster’s innocence. The children were able to solve the crime and Mr Chamberlain, Mr Webster and Miss Woolridge are thankfully off the hook. Phew!
This half term we have been learning all about our local heroes! The children in Reception had a visit from some of the Emergency Services. It was a great learning experience and the children thoroughly enjoyed meeting the police and fire fighters.
What a busy day out we have had. We started our day traveling by school minibus, which was a first experience for the children.
Our first activity at the farm was a tractor ride, where we got to see cows, alpacas, goats and sheep. The tractor ride was a bit bumpy too!
We then looked at some sheep and new baby lambs, which were very cute. We found out that the mummy sheep and their babies have the same number so that they can be kept together.
Next, we visited the big animal barn where we fed the goats and cows. Some goats were very cheeky and even stole some of the bags of food! We also saw a huge pig and some new baby piglets.
Our next stop was the hatchery where we saw chicks and eggs. We found out that they had to keep warm under their warming lamps. We also got to see inside one of the eggs that had been laid. The children could see the veins from the tiny chick that was growing.
We then had lunch and a play on the tractors afterwards.
After lunchtime, we watched Mary the cow get milked and we all bottle-fed the baby lambs. We enjoyed watching and asking questions.
We finished the day with a vist to the soft play.
The children were all wonderful and should sleep well tonight!
