Thu 20 Dec 2018 Emma Marfleet

Thank you for requesting your slots for the Parent Meetings in January. Your children have all now been given reply slips confirming your appointment times. Please see your child's class teacher if this time is inconvenient.

    Many thanks.

  • Last Day

Wed 19 Dec 2018 Mr Chamberlain

    Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to inform you that, should you wish to pick your children up earlier on Friday 21st December, we will allow them to be collected from 1.15pm onwards. If you are unable to do this don’t worry as the children will still be supervised in school and will be doing fun activities in their classrooms.

The intention is to ease the traffic congestion outside school on what is always a manic time on any normal Friday, but especially on the last weekend before Christmas.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the staff at Barnby Road Academy.

The new term begins on Monday 7th January 2019.

    Yours sincerely

    Steven Chamberlain
  • Non Uniform Day

    Wed 05 Dec 2018

Just a reminder that it is non uniform day on Thursday 6th December. We ask that each child brings in a tombola prize on that day.

If your child is in Year 2 or Year 6 they are able to come in non uniform on Friday 7th December as Year 2 have their pirate day on Thursday and year 6 are on a trip to the Holocaust Centre.

    Many Thanks

  • Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival

    Fri 30 Nov 2018 S. Chamberlain
A big well done to reception and year 6 for working together to make baubles for the Barnby Road Christmas tree that is on display in St Mary Magdalene Parish Church in Newark. Some of the staff and a selection of year 6 children have just been decorating the tree and it looks amazing. Please visit the Tree festival and admire the super teamwork from the children.

  • Governor reading support

    Thu 29 Nov 2018 S. Chamberlain
It was great to see one of our governors Mr Damon Fox come into school yesterday to listen to some children read and share some of his favourite children's books. We are continually trying to promote a love of reading at the school and value the support from our governors.

  • Super Chess & Handball performances

    Thu 22 Nov 2018 S. Chamberlain
A big well done to all of the children who represented the school at either chess or handball last night. We had approximately 50 children at the two events with a number of them representing Barnby Road for the first time at a tournament. The chess players all performed very well and each team is well positioned in the league table after the first of 3 tournaments that will take place during the year. The handball teams were also great and I am pleased to announce that we secured 1st and 2nd position with two of our teams and they will now both go on to represent the school in the county finals.
  • Children in Need

Fri 16 Nov 2018 Anna Woolridge
We have had a fantastic spotty day for Children in Need today. The Pupil Council organised biscuit decorating and a colouring competition to help us raise money. We also had a special visit from Pudsey. In total, we raised a whopping £735 for Children in Need today! Well done to all of the Pupil Council for organising such a fantastic day and thank you to everybody who donated.
  • Sad News

Fri 26 Oct 2018 Jane Brown
We are sad to say that our governor, Pam White, passed away earlier this week. Pam had been a governor for a number of years and worked tirelessly for the school. We will miss her.
