The first football matches of the season went very well for both teams.
Team A won 1 - 0
A very good performance by all players including the new players who made a great impact within the side. Some excellent passing throughout the game saw an excellent goal from Toby White.
Team B won 1 - 0
Lots of new players in Team B still getting used to each others style of play but looking very promising for the future. Only goal scored was direct from a free kick by Sam Greeley.
Excellent start from both teams. Well done.
The Girls Cricket team returned home from Lady Bay in Nottingham as County runners-up. The event featured 17 schools from across Nottinghamshire divided into four groups. Barnby were in the 'group of death' alongside eventual winners Oaktree School. During the morning the girls played some excellent cricket, qualifying for the knock-out stages in the afternoon behind Oaktree. As the afternoon progressed the girls found their rhythm and got better and better beating St Edmund Campion and Croft School in the QF and SF.
The final was always going to be tough but the girls rose to the occasion playing their best cricket of the day and only narrowly losing to a side that contains 8 county squad members.
The spirit of the team and the way they encouraged each other was outstanding. They should be very proud and remember this day for a long time.
The year 5 & 6 cricket team retained the Keith Kemp trophy last week after winning all their matches in the Newark cricket league. The team had a 100% record over the 4 weeks of competition winning 12 matches out of 12, playing some excellent cricket.
They will now go to Lady Bay to represent Newark in the County finals.
Well done to all the players involved.
