  • Tag Rugby - Newark & District Finals

    Mon 12 Oct 2015 Mr S Chamberlain
Monday evening saw Barnby Road take part in the Tag Rugby finals along with 6 other teams within our league. Outstanding performances ensured Barnby won 5 of our games finishing runners up and securing a place in the play offs against Bleasby C of E Primary School. After a hard fought game against a very strong and well organised team, Barnby Road eventually lost the game. All our children played excellent and will now go on to represent Newark & District in the County Finals.
  • Football Match v Sir Donald Bailey

    Thu 08 Oct 2015 Mr M Barbuti

The first football matches of the season went very well for both teams.

    Team A won 1 - 0
A very good performance by all players including the new players who made a great impact within the side. Some excellent passing throughout the game saw an excellent goal from Toby White.

    Team B won 1 - 0
Lots of new players in Team B still getting used to each others style of play but looking very promising for the future. Only goal scored was direct from a free kick by Sam Greeley.

Excellent start from both teams. Well done.

  • Hockey

    Wed 07 Oct 2015 Mrs E Marfleet
Wednesday 7th Oct 15 brought the first outing of this year's Hockey team. The team played like they had been playing together for years with good distribution of the ball, strong tackles and a few goals too. It was mostly a quiet evening for Alfie Horne in goal, with Barnby applying all the pressure at the opposition's end of the pitch in all 3 games. The team were emphatic in their victories over John Hunt (League, 2-0) and Chuter Ede (friendly 3-0) with a number of players seeing goal action! Unfortunately a last minute short corner against Chuter Ede (league) allowed the opposition to sneak in a well executed goal in a game that was dominated by Barnby. Overall incredibly proud of our first outing as the new 2015/16 team and looking forward to the next games on 18/11/15.

Just a quick message to welcome everybody back to another fun filled year here at Barnby Road. I hope the children all had a wonderful holiday and are ready for a busy year ahead.
  • What a super trip!

    Mon 20 Jul 2015 S. Chamberlain
It was a pleasure to attend the year 5 residential to Malham in Yorkshire. The countryside was beautiful. The children carried out many activities and visited a number of places during the 3 days and behaved excellently at all times. Great work to everyone involved with the trip.
  • Girls light up Lady Bay

Wed 15 Jul 2015 Mr Barbuti

The Girls Cricket team returned home from Lady Bay in Nottingham as County runners-up. The event featured 17 schools from across Nottinghamshire divided into four groups. Barnby were in the 'group of death' alongside eventual winners Oaktree School. During the morning the girls played some excellent cricket, qualifying for the knock-out stages in the afternoon behind Oaktree. As the afternoon progressed  the girls found their rhythm and got better and better beating St Edmund Campion and Croft School in the QF and SF.

The final was always going to be tough but the girls rose to the occasion playing their best cricket of the day and only narrowly losing to a side that contains 8 county squad members.

The spirit of the team and the way they encouraged each other was outstanding. They should be very proud and remember this day for a long time.

  • Marvellous Manor

    Mon 13 Jul 2015 S Chamberlain

  • Big Bashers Bowl 'em Over

Wed 01 Jul 2015 Mr Barbuti

The year 5 & 6 cricket team retained the Keith Kemp trophy last week after winning all their matches in the Newark cricket league. The team had a 100% record over the 4 weeks of competition winning 12 matches out of 12, playing some excellent cricket.

They will now go to Lady Bay to represent Newark in the County finals.

Well done to all the players involved.

  • Shakespeare Rocks

    Wed 01 Jul 2015 S. Chamberlain
A massive well done to all the year 5 & 6 team for two wonderful performances over the last two nights. The children were amazing and had so much fun. I am still chuckling away now about some of the jokes.
