  • After School Provision and Survey

    Mon 10 May 2021

    11th May 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Survey Regarding After-school Provision

Firstly, thank you to you all for completing the survey sent out with the newsletter at the beginning of term. It has been lovely to read so many compliments about our school and all the staff.  We value all the comments and look closely at any survey we send out to see where we can make any improvements. The latest survey highlighted the lack of after school provision.

This is something that has been on our radar for a long time, looking at whether we could find a dedicated space to enable us to give you this provision. With so many comments and an obvious need, we are committing to establishing an after-school club starting in September 2021. In order for us to do this, we need to know how many children would be using the provision along with how many times a week. This will ensure that the provision meets the needs of the children. It will also enable us to ensure that the staffing ratios are correct.

To help with this, we have prepared a short survey that we need you to complete as soon as possible. Along with the questions, there is a chance to put other comments. If you feel that you need to give us more information, or there is something you feel we have missed out in the survey that we should be made aware of, please let us know. You can access the survey here - https://forms.gle/ViVGKV1DknYHbaNJ6 .

We are looking at charging £7.00 for the whole session with a reduction of £1.00 for any siblings also attending. We are not sure whether the provision will be staffed by the school, or whether it will be an outside provider that we use.

We look forward to all the replies and will keep you informed as soon as we have made the required decisions.

    Yours sincerely,

    Steven Chamberlain

Re: Coronavirus Testing – Lateral Flow Test Vs PCR Test

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We would like to clarify the procedures in place if children are showing symptoms of COVID-19.

The main symptoms of COVID-19 are:

    • a high temperature
    • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
    • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If children have any of these symptoms they should not attend school. Any child who displays symptoms at school will be isolated and parents/carers will be asked to collect them. You should follow the instructions below if your child has symptoms.

What to do if your child has symptoms

If your child has any of the main symptoms of COVID-19:

    1. Get a PCR test (test that is sent to a lab) to check if they have COVID-19 as soon as possible
    2. You, your child and anyone else you live with should stay at home and not have visitors until you get the test result – only leave your home to have the test.

Anyone in your childcare or support bubble should also stay at home if your child has been in close contact with them since their symptoms started or during the 48 hours before they started.

Please note that if you, or your child, are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, you MUST book a PCR test. Rapid lateral flow tests help to find cases in people who may have no symptoms, but are still infectious and can give the virus to others. Lateral flow tests are not appropriate if your child has symptoms.

We ask that you help us to keep the school open and follow the procedures, accessing a PCR test if your child has symptoms. Please inform the school office of your child’s PCR test result immediately, whether this is negative or positive.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr David Webster and Miss Anna Woolridge
