Helen Ellison - Co-Opted Governor
I am new to the governing body at Barnby Road. I am from Newark and have worked for Newark and Sherwood District Council for over 20 years. My current role at the district council as Health Improvement Officer has bought me much closer to Barnby Road in the last 3 years, working with the school around food, growing and community engagement. I am married with 2 children and have a real passionate for sport, wellbeing and love to garden when I have time. I used to swim for Newark Swimming Club and until 2018 ran a disability swimming club for over 8 years voluntarily.
I believe giving all children an array of different experiences and opportunities make such a rounded individual and builds on skills that last a lifetime. Within the school I will be working with the Eco club, supporting staff wellbeing and will continue to support the food programme within school.
