From the 54 adult staff and 430 children , we send our Christmas and New Year greetings. It's been a fantastic year at the Academy and the support given to us from Parents, Grand parents and Community members is second to none! Merry Christmas!
SCHOOL RE-OPENS ON JANUARY 6th 2014 !
As Phil Johnson completes this month's radio show pilot he's probably exhausted from the amount of work he's had to get through but it's been worthwhile . The pilot was a huge success and the show showed a healthy profit even after the extra promotional costs of starting up. What happens now is that the Radio Newark team have to raise another band of sponsorship for March and if that too is proven successful, a permanent licence follows.
I think we have all thoroughly enjoyed the quality and professionalism of the pilot, it won back hundreds of fans from the Newark area and became great listening. Newark deserves a radio station, Phil's proved it can be a success, let's keep an eye out for more sponsors for the next phase of this fantastic community project. In the meantime the station will continue with an internet presence.
Thank you to Phil, all those DJ's and the hardworking team who put such great programmes together. We'll see you all again in the new year. Get digging out those sponsors!
A massive thank you to the Barnby Gate Methodist church staff and reverend Phil. A fantastic traditional venue for this year in the beautiful two tier church. Orchestra, Choral Speech, Choirs (Junior and Senior), recorders (Junior and Senior), brilliant soloists and some thumping good congregational carols. A real community morning in the very heart of our community. Mrs Greeley excelled herself in planning a quality traditional celebration with so much skill and talent on show. Mr Higgins showed himself to be far more than just a brilliant pianist and played the beautiful Barnby Gate organ with great aplomb.
Well over 200 parents and 300 children giving it their all. A great morning to help end our term.
Thanks to the community police who had us all safely down there within 12 minutes!
92 Equal in the country for pupil progress (31.3) out of 16971 Primary schools in the nation! That puts us in the top 0.5% of schools in the country for making best pupil progress! Well done staff and pupils! 11th out of 256 Nottinghamshire primary schools. One of the top 100 schools in the nation! ...AND OUR INTAKE NATIONAL AVERAGE DEPRIVATION ,NOT MANY SCHOOLS MAKE THAT KIND OF DIFFERENCE!
Primary league tables are out and apart from two or three small village schools Barnby Road has to have made the most progress for its pupils this year. We are Newark Towns top performer and just behind Flintham and Orston in Nottinghamshire's top schools for pupil progress, 4+ and Average point scores. A fantastic year !
Average Pupil Progress Score (National Av 28.2)
