As head teacher I thoroughly approve of children having meals cooked on site and I know that this initiative will save families about £400 per child a year and should prove a big saving for many families. This policy comes into force on September 2014.
Like many schools in the country we are busy working out the logistics of feeding a 75% increase in hot meals and will be bidding for extra ovens, freezers and kitchen equipment and negotiating new contracts with our caterer.
Our meals have been steadily increasing in take up since Louise, then Debbie became our cooks and we are providing good ,balanced healthy meals at a great cost.
The DFE found that the very large majority of primary parents took up the offer and there was a significant increase in older children then joining their younger siblings in having a dinner.
We will continue to plan our way through this initiative and will update parents as we go along.
Benjamin Winter was born last night, a whopping 9lbs 12 oz.
Congratulations to Becky and Rob, I know many of her parents and children have been asking. Becky has promised she'll bring him in when she's back home and settled. We are all delighted for her!
Our brilliant new year four teacher Mr Barnett doesn't let the grass grow under his feet. He's a talented musician and pianist helping to expand Mrs Greeley's talented Barnby Academy Music School team. He's going to take on the boys and get them singing in his own boys choir on Monday lunchtimes. He's got a fantastic range of good fun and modern stuff lined up for them. Thanks Mr Barnett...I've heard some of those boys in year six sing...so good luck with that !
Yesterday we became Newark Indoor Champions for the fourth year in a row. Chuter Ede were second for the fourth year in a row (Maz D'Bouk told us this!). A fantastic performance by all of the children with some great efforts in the field events.

Holly Newman the coach was delighted with her side, the standard was exceptionally high and the girls came up against the best of the best finally clinching fourth place.
