So proud of the Indoor Athletics team who were amazing on Monday afternoon.

We competed in the Newark and Sherwood District competition after not having a Newark competition because of a lack of entrants.

After a little bit of practice the boys and girls performed brilliantly and achieved the runners up spot behind a very strong Lowes Wong team.

A massive well done to all of you!

  • Hockey Matches

    Mon 25 Jan 2016

On Wednesday 20th Jan the hockey team travelled to The Magnus School for the next round of the hockey league.

Although 2 of our usual players were 'borrowed' to play football, we still had a great night. Our 1st match was against a strong Highfields team who beat us last time we met. This time due to sheer determination from all our players and some excellent passing of the ball we managed to keep the scoresheet to 0-0.

This gave the team a boost going into their 2nd game against The Mount. The defence had an excellent game not letting anything through which allowed the attack to push up and cause havoc! A deserved 3-0 win to Barnby Road.

Game 3 was against Lowes Wong who started very strong and very quick catching Barnby a little unawares with some excellent manoeuvring skills. We soon pulled ourselves together and after a very hard fought game, Barnby managed to score with only a few minutes left on the clock. Lowes Wong came back hard and after an amazing save off the line by our goalkeeper we finally won the game 1-0, much to the delight of the team and Mrs Marfleet.

Well done to all he players who took part, some excellent skill on show!

  • County title retained!

Sun 24 Jan 2016 Mr Barbuti

The boys 5-a-side football team become the first team to retain the Reprotec Nottinghamshire 5-a-side shield after winning the annual competition held at Nottingham Trent University on Wednesday night.

There were 5 teams at the event, representing Nottingham City, Worksop, Gedling, Mansfield and Newark. Each team taking part had previously won their district's entry event.

The first match was the hardest for Barnby, eventually beating St John's from Worksop 8-6. This was a sweet victory as St John's had pipped us to the County outdoor crown in November, despite us beating them 1-0 on the day. The confidence gained from this tough match carried the team forward; in the next three games Barnby scored 26 goals to their opponent's 2.

The boys have been training specifically for indoor 5-a-side over the past 6 weeks and this application really paid off on the night; anyone who was lucky enough to be there witnessed some exceptional football.

It is an achievement just to qualify for this event - the boys had to win the autumn Flowserve tournament in order to secure their place. With this in mind their achievement of not only retaining the title, but also winning for the 4th time in 6 years is truly outstanding.

Match scores and a final table can be found by clicking on the link below.

Well done boys - you should remember this for a long time.

  • Hockey League continues

    Thu 07 Jan 2016 S. Chamberlain
A massive well done to the hockey team last night in the last round of fixtures. They put in a very spirited performance in their first game against a very strong Long Bennington side who had a lot of experienced players. Unfortunately despite some resolute defending they went down to a 1-0 defeat. However they bounced straight back with consecutive wins against William Gladstone and Farndon in their last two matches. They played some great attacking hockey in these matches and scored some excellent goals.
