  • Transition stories for children in Lower School 📖📖📖

Fri 28 Aug 2020 Miss Woolridge

We have now uploaded the final story onto our website for children starting Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We hope these stories have been useful and helped our youngest pupils get used to their new teachers before they start in September. We would particularly recommend watching them with your child over the next few days, as you prepare for them starting school.

  • September Reminders

    Fri 28 Aug 2020

We are really looking forward to all of the children starting back next week. Here are a few reminders for starting back at school:

    - ALL children need a named water bottle every day

    - YR-Y6 will need a PE kit; they will get changed for PE in school as usual (any PE kits left in school during lockdown have been sent to children's new classroom)

    - Children in Y3-6 will need a pencil case which can stay in school, containing pencils, rubber, sharpener, ruler and coloured pencils.

    - Children can bring a bag to school with their drink bottle and reading book. Please return any reading books you still have at home.

    - Any messages for teachers must be sent via the office; you will be unable to speak to them at the beginning or end of the day. Please ring or email the office to pass on any communication. Class teachers will ring you at a convenient time, if needed.

    - Please strictly follow the drop off times for each year group. We understand that this is difficult if you have siblings, but we will only be able to let children enter at their correct time to ensure we do not have too many people on site at once. You MUST follow the one-way systems for each child.

  • KS2 Pencil Cases from September

    Wed 26 Aug 2020 D Webster

    Dear Parents / Carers,

We are looking forward to September, some kind of normality AND seeing ALL of our brilliant Barnby children back in school.

There will be small changes we’ll be making to make school as safe as possible.  One of these is that, in the classroom, children will not be sharing basic, regularly used equipment.

For this reason, we are asking that KS2 children bring their own, small pencil case (please not the giant Smiggle ones!) to school so that they have sole use.  Their pencil case should contain the following items:

    • Pencils
    • Rubber
    • Ruler
    • Coloured pencil crayons
    • Pencil sharpener

Enjoy the last of summer holiday and, If you have any questions or queries regarding this, please email the office.

    Warm wishes,

    David Webster

    Head of Upper School
