Music, song, dance ,public speaking, Irish Dance, orchestra, percussion ,strings, flutes, recorders...you name it we showcased it with over 90 children displaying stunning talent. A celebration of Mrs Greeley's music team at its best; Aine's Irish dancers moving with amazing poise and control, our percussion and band team playing their first ever concert; senior choir producing two beautifully performed pieces in two parts, exerts from the Aladdin concert with those two girls blowing us away with their duet; Newark's three 'Musician's of the year' finalists performing faultlessly, Mr Higgins' piano team showing their great progress; Mr Pickersgills' recorders still knocking our socks off after all these years and Mr Barnett's new boy choir singing about their breakfast(as boys would); Mrs Collinson's and Miss Ferris's public speech children reciting their brilliant Wolfit entries ...just wow and more wow!

On Friday 25th April two teams of year 5 children from Barnby Road Academy took part in the annual 'Magnus Year 5 Maths Challenge'. All year 5 children had taken part in several team challenges within school led by Stacey Atkins from the Magnus Academy. All of our teams scored really highly and the two highest scoring were chosen to go to the Magnus for a final afternoon of challenges.
After several tense rounds of team maths problems and 'first to the buzzer' activities we won both first and second places and were awarded the trophy and prizes of scientific calculators. Well done to both teams! We have such great maths brains here at Barnby Road.
Winning team: Louis Ketley, Caitlin McDavid, AJ Young, Callum Mumby
Second place to: Thomas Linford, Sophie Lamont, Brooke Woolley, Archie Nesbitt
