Dear Parents/Carers,
We have been missing you! Throughout this week, teachers will be making a short phone call to families of full time pupils just to ‘check in’ and make sure everyone is ok. Look out for a withheld number at some point this week. Teachers won’t expect to speak to the children – they can be shy in these situations – but will happily say ‘hello’ if you and your child are happy to. Speak soon!
From tomorrow, our online learning will be back. Please go to the online learning sites to see the tasks set for the children:
Tapestry - Nursery and Reception
MyMaths/Purple Mash - Years 1-6
There are lots of other links to further learning on our website too -
To launch our special VE Day week we have a special video for you from all the staff at Barnby Road. We miss you all 🇬🇧
This week we will not be setting the usual activities on Purple Mash and MyMaths. Instead, each year group has set some exciting activities based around VE Day for the children to complete throughout the week. These are available on our 'online learning' website page.
We hope the children will enjoy this special week of activities to celebrate 75 years since VE Day! Please share photos of your child's activities on Tapestry/class blogs, or post them on our Facebook page. We'd love to see what they get up to! 🙂

If you are eligible for the childcare provision at school please inform us of your childcare needs for the next few weeks. It is important you continue to let us know your needs so that we can adequately staff the provision. Please remember the government advice - ‘If children can stay safely at home they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading’. This provision is to support families who are critical workers, or have vulnerable children, and have no other childcare options.
Please contact the school office on 01636683900 or email office@newarkbarnbyroad.notts.sch.uk to inform us of days/times you require care over the next few weeks. Thank you
From Monday 27th April you will find maths activities for children in Years 1-6 on MyMaths. These will be set weekly by your child’s class teacher. Use the log in details you received through the post, with your child’s letter, to access this resource. Watch the video on our online learning page to find out how to use MyMaths at home. We hope you find this new resource useful during the school closure.
